To coincide with Copenhagen, the Green and Connected Cities Conference in Strasbourg on 10-11 December 2009 will offer an opportunity for cities across Europe to contribute to the debate about “green and connected cities.” MDDA is part of the ICT21-EE Network and will be attending the conference.

Rendez-vous 10th & 11th December 2009 at the European Parliament.
Together with local stakeholders and economic players working in Strasbourg and its region, with national and international institutions (Union pour la Méditerranée, ADEME, DIACT, Délégation aux usages de l’Internet, Grenoble Ecole de Management, Comité21, FING, Mission Ecoter, Cap’Com, Institut Telecom, Villes Internet, Adome, Digital Solidarity Agency….), ACIDD wishes you to contribute to the exceptional Forum of Strasbourg: emergency call for green and connected cities. The Forum will take place under the patronage of the French Secretary of State for the development of digital economy and of DIACT, the French state agency for territory development.

Initiatives to be presented during the Forum:

‘green and connected cities’, an international cluster of big European and Mediterranean cities associated with international industry groups, scientists and expert networks…

‘ICT21-EE’, a European consortium supported by the European Commission, co-operating around ICTs for energy efficiency and dissemination of good practices,

37 propositions for digital and sustainable development of territories, promoted by DIACT together with ACIDD,

live communication thanks to videoconferencing on Thursday 10 December with the international climate forum of Copenhagen, ‘climate ultimatum’ an initiative launched by French NGOs,

and many other ones supported by the private sector, public authorities, NGOs and research centres, medias, …

Please note that the number of participants will be limited. Hereafter, two websites to submit your contribution and your registration:

The Forum of Strasbourg will open many opportunities to discover and initiate new projects with different players operating in many fields: local players and decision makers, communication experts, NGO managers, experts in the fields of Internet and new technologies, media mangers, scientists, aso, all people involved in concrete projects and initiatives and working for a new generation of territories: attractive, efficient, creative, performing, …green and connected!
Please note that days preceding Christmas are wonderful in Alsace, however it makes accommodation more difficult to find. We would suggest an early registration.

Taking start in the new set of climate and energy targets within the European Union, the Swedish Regional Energy Agencies invites You to a conference for European regional and local energy actors.
There will be a range of speakers from different disciplines discussing throughout the Social Technologies Summit, as well as a number of fascinating mass participation projects.

Climate Bubbles is a bubble blowing game that “enables people across the city of Manchester to test air flow circulation, and by sharing the results online, enable the Met Office to get a snapshot of the Urban Heat Island phenomenon”, whilst Biotagging Manchester creates an opportunity “to discover and map the city’s urban wildlife in new ways.”

On Saturday 16th May, an Environment 2.0 “unConference” provides an open forum for discussions and debates about the interface between environment and information technology.

One of the work packages on the PEPESEC project is concerned with how “intelligent systems” can help provide better information and better engagement around environmental and energy efficiency issues within cities. The Environment 2.0 strand at Futuresonic will give some useful and imaginative pointers to how Web 2.0 tools and techniques can help achieve a more energy efficient city.

The Futuresonic festival and conference runs from 13th-16th May, and even if you can’t attend, follow what’s going on via their website www.futuresonic.com or by searching for the Twitter hashtag #futr09
