Smart2020 Website Relaunched.

The www.smart2020.org website has been re-launched this week to track case studies of ICT-enabled low carbon solutions. Last year, The Climate Group, GeSI (Global e-sustainability Initiative) and McKinsey produced the SMART 2020 report which identified 7.8 Gt CO2e carbon emissions abatement potential by 2020 through ICT-enabled energy efficiency and dematerialization, or 15% of global emissions in 2020. This year, BT and the Digital Energy Solutions Campaign (DESC) have supported us to look at Pathways to Scale for these solutions.

The platform contains  case studies, to enhance knowledge exchange on current developments and carbon saving potential in a range of solutions for smart buildings, smart grid and smart transport. The website extends  Smart2020 research to clarify where significant barriers to implementation remain and indicate, through analysis of concrete examples, how such barriers can be overcome.
