Energy Planning Doctor’s Orders Given….

On the 25^th and 26^th June PEPESEC Partners were welcomed to Greater Manchester to sample the highlights of Energy Planning, the Manchester and Oldham Way! A visit and Study tour included seeing MANCAT a Newly Built 6^th form Centre clad in an array of PV modules and incorporates solar thermal technologies, The New Islington Urban Splash Community, a major regeneration project committed to adopting a sustainable approach to all aspects of its development and Failswoth Secondary School (Oldham) a £28million School which opened February this year and is bursting with first class sustainable features. The partners were also able to sample Manchester summer time! (Umbrellas were required!)

On the 2^nd day of the study visit the partners came to the MDDA to visit the “Energy Planning Clinic”. It was here the partners had the opportunity to consult our energy planning “Doctors” (Our Swedish partners from City of Malmö and Skåne Energy Agency and Keith Boxer from Manchester Knowledge Capital). The Patients (Partners) each had an opportunity to have a consultation with the Energy Planning Doctors. After Diagnosis the Doctors then wrote prescriptions to try and cure the Partners energy planning ailments! The next study visit is due to be held in Murcia during October where a follow up Clinic may also be held to continue to steer the project partners along the path to good local energy planning health.
